Tile Coasters

I am so happy to start decoration my apartment and crafting again. Today I made tile coasters for my living room. I have a glass coffee table and I do not like the ring left behind by the cups. So I needed to buy some coasters for that. I just did not want to spend $5-$9 on them. So I decided to make them instead. I also went to Italy in 2008 and had some wonderful pictures from there. So I killed two birds with one stone. I get to display my pictures on a homemade coasters. :)

Items you will need:
Mod Podge
paint brush
tiles 4.25"x4.25" ( I used 4)
adhesive foam sheet
water resistant spray
pictures you want to use
cutter

I set up a templete on Pages and put 4 of my favoriate pictures in black and white. You can use any software program that lets you edit pictures. Pages just happens to be on my Mac. Each picture I made it a 4"X4". I wanted to have a white border around my picture. But you can make it to the edge of the tile.
To print it out go to any place that has a xerox printer. I went to Office Depot and printed on their Xerox laser printer. It is just a few cents for the printing. Also the quality comes out so great. Print it on a 24lb paper. If you print it on your inkjet printer at home you don't get the best quality but it still can work.

Next you have to cut the pictures. My cutter blade was dull so I had to use my ruler and xacto to cut the picture tiles out. I hope yours works :)
Gather your tiles, pictures, paint brush, and mod podge.
First get one of the tiles (I bought my tiles at Home Depot for $0.13) and brush some mod podge on it. Then place one of the pictures centering it on the tile. Next apply another layer of mode podge on top of the picture and tile. This is to seal it in place. Repeat these steps to the other tiles. Next let them dry for a couple of hours.

While the tiles are drying grab your adhesive foam sheet. This is used to stick to the bottom of the tiles so they don't scratch the furniture. I made little circles so that I can still have a lot of foam left for another project :).

Once your tile is dry stick the circle adhesive to the bottom of the tile.

Next you need to spray a moisture resistant spray to your tile. This is done so that the artwork doesn't mess up with the condensation from your cups. Make sure you spay this outside or in a well ventilate area. The smell is super strong. Let it dry for a couple of hours and then you are ready to use it.

Final Product I LOVE THEM!

Married!

I am married now! I got married August 4, 2012 and I am so exited to have an amazing man in my life. So much has happened from the last post since its been a LONG COUPLE OF MONTHS. A lot of it was planning for the wedding. So many ideas were thrown out from our friends and family on how our wedding should be. Of course thats what happens everyone has ideas :). In the end we decided a small intimate wedding with family, and close friends. I of course wanted to invite EVERYONE but for those who knows how a wedding event is planned that just couldn't happened especially if a lot of your friends live in another city or state. OH and weddings are expensive. But this woman :) got it done on a low budget... THATS RIGHT! :)
How to have a low budget wedding? One is I made my own invitations and save the dates. Also we made our own decorations for the ceremony and reception. Well actually David's Grandma and mom made a lot of the decorations. I am every thankful for his family. I just helped with what was need. And for my cake. My little sister's fiance's mom makes cakes :). She made our wedding cake and grooms cake. I also bought my dress on sale online at David's Bridal :). We also rented David's tux. Another thing is cutting down on the size of the wedding guest. Its the hardest part but it has to be done. Having a Dj is also cheaper then a live band. Also we had our reception at a local restaurant that closed it down for us :). They provided us a fantastic deal. And for the photographer my best friend and sister-in-law both our photographers so they took pictures for free :).
I had a fantastic time at my wedding. I hoped everyone that came did as well :)

I am engaged!

Hello peeps,
First of I want to apologize for not blogging like I had promised y'all. I am so so so so sorry. I am now going to blog more often. Thank you for your patience.

Now for the exciting news. I AM ENGAGED!! TO ONE HANDSOME MAN MR. DAVID. He proposed March 31 at South Padre Island, TX. In one of the most romantic and cute ways. We had an adorable dinner watching the sunset at Parrot Eyes and after dinner a romantic walk on the beach. He proposed using the Draw Something game the one on the IPhones. He first drew the pictures as we were walking and after he was done he kept on telling me to check my phone. So I finally checked the game, well he took my phone and made me check it, to play the game. It was so cute the first page said, "You make me :) smile", then "You have my heart", "1 question", and finally "will you marry me". I said of course and stared at him. I thought he was just talking to me like any other day so I just said of course. Until he kneeled to the ground and pulled out a ring! That is when i believed it and I said "YES". So now I am engaged. Now it is time to pick a wedding date :) and pick a budget :). I am also open to any wedding advice :). Thank for reading :).
